PVC conduit is made of PVC, which is commonly used and inexpensive.
PC conduit is made of polycarbonate (PC), which is more expensive, has very high strength, and a long service life.
Because the materials are different, their properties also differ:
1. PC conduit has excellent impact resistance, high tensile, bending, and compressive strength, low creep, stable dimensions, good heat and cold resistance. It maintains stable mechanical properties, dimensional stability, electrical properties, and flame-retardancy over a wide temperature range. Can be used long-term between -60~120℃. Low water absorption, low shrinkage, high dimensional accuracy, stable size, low film permeability;
2. The advantages and disadvantages of the two materials are different:
(1) PC conduit is made from PC resin, a thermoplastic engineering plastic with excellent technical performance. PC conduit also has excellent impact resistance, toughness, low creep, good dimensional stability, heat resistance, low water absorption, non-toxic, and superior dielectric properties. PC is a transparent engineering plastic among the top five, and a widely used general-purpose engineering plastic in China. Its disadvantages include susceptibility to stress cracking, poor solvent resistance, and lower wear resistance.
(2) PVC conduit has outstanding wear resistance, flame retardancy, and corrosion resistance. Additionally, PVC conduit has good overall mechanical performance, transparency, electrical insulation, heat insulation, sound insulation, and shock absorption. PVC conduit is a cost-effective general-purpose material. Its disadvantages are poor heat stability and low impact resistance; both rigid and flexible PVC tend to become brittle over time.
